Whether your child is a skilled swimmer or just getting use to the water, RDV Sportsplex Athletic Club has the perfect program for them. American Red Cross: Parent Participation Classes

Tiny Tadpoles - Ages 6-18 months
This class is designed so that parent and child will feel comfortable in the water and learn how to play safely. Child will learn to ask for permission before entering the water and explore submerging and buoyancy in the water. This is a parent/child participation class. Swim diapers covered by a bathing suit are required.

Baby Guppies - Ages 18-36mo
This class provides exploration of submersion in a rhythmic pattern, along with gliding and performing combined stroke on front and back with assistance. It establishes expectation for adult supervision. This is a parent/child participation class. Swim diapers covered by a bathing suit are required.

Mini Minnows - Ages 3-5
This class is designed for children as their first class without their parents. Your child will be oriented to the aquatic environment and will gain basic aquatic skills.

Fabulous Sunfish - Ages 3-5
This class helps children gain more independence in their swimming skills and develop greater comfort in and around the water. Child must be able to glide on front two body lengths and roll to back and float for 3 seconds.

Dynamic Dolphins - Ages 3-5
This class is designed for children who can swim a combined stroke on front for 3 body lengths, float on their back for 5 seconds and continue to swim on front 3 more body lengths. They also must be able to glide on front and back for 2 body lengths. Children will gain the basic propulsive skills required for them to be comfortable in and around the water.

Level 1/Introduction to Water Skills - Ages 5+
This class teaches participants to feel comfortable in the water by teaching them elementary aquatic skills. Participants learn basic personal water safety information and good swimming habits.

Level 2/Fundamental Aquatic Skills - Ages 5+
This class is designed to give participants success with fundamental skills. Student must be able to enter the water independently, travel at least 5 yards, bob three times and exit the water. They must be able to glide on their front at least 2 body lengths and roll to a back float for 3 seconds.

Level 3/Stroke Development - Ages 5+
This class builds on the skills learned in Level 2 through guided practice. They will learn to swim front crawl and elementary backstroke. To participate in this level, your child must be able to swim on their front with combined arm and leg movements for 5 body lengths, roll to the back for 15 seconds, return to their front and swim 5 more body lengths.

Level 4/Stroke Improvement - Ages 5+
This class develops confidence in the strokes your child has learned plus sidestroke, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly are added. Students must be able jump in, swim front crawl 15 yards, tread or float for 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards.

Level 5/Stroke Refinement - Ages 5+
This class is designed to work on coordination and refinement of strokes. Students refine their performance of all strokes and increase their distances. To participate in this class, students must be able to jump into deep water, swim front crawl and elementary backstroke for 25 yards and swim breaststroke and back crawl for 15 yards.

Level 6/Swimming & Skill Proficiency - Ages 5+
This course is designed to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. This course is designed to be customized depending on student objectives including entrance into competitive swimming or improvement of personal water safety. Student must be able to swim front crawl for 50 yards, elementary back stroke for 50 yards, breaststroke for 25 yards and back crawl for 25 yards.

STARS Swimming

STARS Swim Club - Ages 6-14
The STARS Swim Club is the pathway for the competitive swimmer. The program is focused on developing the person behind the swimmer. The program concentrates on training in the technical and tactical components as well as the mental and physiological aspects of swimming. Swimmers build endurance, refine stroke technique, meet other kids and compete against their own times. Participants must be able to swim one length (25 yards) non-stop to be eligible to enroll.

STARS Synchronized Swimming - Ages 6-14
This synchronized swimming program is a hybrid of swimming, gymnastics and dance, consisting of individual, couples or teams performing a synchronized routine of elaborate and dramatic moves in the water with music. Swimmers use goggles, nose clips and swim laps. They must be able to swim one pool length to participate.

STARS Stroke Clinic - Ages 8-14
Looking for a way to improve upon the four competitive swimming strokes? Come join this clinic and we will work with each individual swimmers needs. The coach will analyze your child’s stroke and introduce appropriate drills, and instruction designed to improve his/her freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and  turns.

Private Lessons

Preschool and Youth Private Lessons
Every child is taught by only one swim instructor and can progress at his or her own pace. Lessons are scheduled based upon instructor and student availability. Lessons are available in 15- or 30-minute sessions. Times and dates for the lessons are determined between you and the instructor. Receive a complimentary 30-minute lesson, if you buy a package of four hours of private lessons. Please call 407-916-2506 and leave your name, phone number, and age of the participant to schedule a lesson with an instructor. You will then be contacted to arrange the lessons.

Birthday Parties

Pool Parties year-round! A two-hour pool party in the RDV Sportsplex Aquatics Center includes jumping and playing on unique float toys and swimmingthrough spraying water to get under the Mushroom umbrellain the family pool. Special “party lifeguards” lead age-appropriate water games and keep your children following safe pool rules. After the pool, enjoy your party snackson the pool deck with your choice of party tablecloths. Towels are provided as well as access to the family locker rooms. Food, paper products and party favors are the responsibility of the host family. Party times are Saturday and Sunday afternoons beginning at 1:00pm.

Aquatics SUMMER Camps

Stars Stroke Camp / Ages 8-14

Are you ready to take your swimming to the next level? Experience world class training in a world class environment! During this camp, participants will learn and master four competitive strokes under the direction of our registered USA swimming coaches.  One-on-one coaching along with the use of DVD’s as a tool will inspire and teach your swimmer. Each day, your swimmer will be introduced to detailed stroke and drill training designed to improve butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.  Campers will also become acquainted with the science, rules and regulations of competitive swimming. This camp strives to develop strength in and outside of the water through vigorous dry land training and endurance building swim sets. Please note participants must demonstrate 25 meter freestyle and backstroke with rhythmic breathing, along with knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke techniques.

Swing & Swim / Ages 7-14

This camp is designed to create a fun atmosphere of activities in and outside of the water. From your breaststroke to tennis stroke this camp is the best of both worlds. On the tennis court children will improve hand-eye coordination through the development of basic tennis skills and proper form. In the swimming portion, campers will participate in aquatic games while improving personal swimming techniques, and safety habits. Please note participants must demonstrate ability to jump into deep water, swim front crawl for 15 meters, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds, and swim elementary backstroke for 15 meters.

Day: Daily Tuesday-Friday, July 5-July 8 Only
Cost: M $40/day; NM $60/day
Lunch Option: $7/day
